Today we meet Robin Mitchelle-Stroud, Phd. She, along with her co-host Debra Martinelli, host the Incarcerated Christian Podcast. Robin discusses the concept of carceral christianity. She is of a southern baptist background. Although she is not a current or former member of the ICOC, she can relate to some of the hinderance of the ICOC’s brand of christianity. Robin discusses how one’s negative experience is usually brought about by well meaning people. She experienced a lot of rules that she was not able to live up to. It all made her think that she was never good enough as a christian. Robin has spoken with other christians who have experieced their spirituallity in the same way. Robin explains that this type of christian practice fosters cycles of spiritual poverty.
